Technology trends in 2020

Artificial Intelligence

A new decade is just around the corner.  It’s hard to believe that 20 years ago we were heading into the Millennium and the technological world was set to crash…so they said.

We’ve come a long way since then, so what’s around the corner for 2020?  Here are just a few of the top technology trends currently being discussed in the industry.

Data downloads are becoming faster and with the creation of 5G, it’s likely that it’ll increase in popularity during the new year with more reasonably priced packages becoming available.  This will allow greater efficiencies to be achieved within business with more data being collected and transferred than ever before.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) continues to have a prominent presence on the agenda.  Companies are already looking at how AI can improve the overall customer journey and experience.  However, because it’s an expensive tool, many are looking at other platforms to feed from – the likes of Google, Microsoft and Amazon.  This adoption of providers is likely to extend to others in 2020, giving wider scope for businesses to use this intelligence to their advantage.

It’s not something new - Blockchain Technology has been around for a while – but it’s not surprising that Facebook has now got in on the action.  It’s therefore likely that we might well see Facebook’s own blockchain crypto currency come to the fore in the not-so-distant future.

Face recognition through Computer Vision is likely to be a hot topic 2020.  It’s already controlling access to smartphones and at airports but is it something that everyone likes or agrees with?  There are likely to be more debates over its privacy and the effect it’s having on our Big Brother state that we find ourselves in, so keep an eye out for further updates!
