PCs are our passion!

The start of the year has seen the team busy with PC upgrades for business.  A new year = a new PC!

The client we worked with replaced PCs that were 10 years old; they were running slow, which doesn’t make for a very efficient business.  But is it worth upgrading or purchasing a new PC?  Sometimes, changing a component is good enough, but at other times, it might be your PC has reached its performance peak.

Upgrading your existing PC

It makes sense to upgrade a PC if you can achieve an increase in performance with just a few modifications and with a relatively low investment.  One of the most obvious upgrades is to enhance the PC's speed.  An SSD will significantly improve the running speed of a machine without other components having to be replaced.

If you’re running low on RAM space and there are free RAM slots available, you can easily install additional modules to help with storage space.

Generally, upgrading your PC has the following advantages:

- It’s cheaper since you’re only replacing one or two components as opposed to a whole new system.

- It saves time as you don’t have to set up an entirely new PC, install the necessary programs, or transfer your data across.

- It helps the environment and is more sustainable – there’s less wastage going to landfills as you’re not disposing of the old system.

Purchasing a new PC

If the costs are spiraling to upgrade an existing PC, it might pay to invest in a new one; there’s no point wasting money and it will benefit you in the long run.

One of the main drivers for investing in a new PC is software compatibility.  New versions of Windows or other operating systems aren’t always compatible with old hardware, making for an inefficient machine and a lot of frustration when trying to operate it!  It’s the associated costs connected with that also; for example, an inefficient machine is likely to use more electricity to run, so you’ll save yourself money in the long run.

With a new PC, you get peace of mind with its warranty, which is a considerable advantage.
