Are you ready?

As of July 1, 2018, Google will be changing its search ranking algorithm, putting site speeds under scrutiny.
If you have a slow site performing on mobile, you may want to take note as Google will be pushing slower sites down the search results.
It’s all part of its strategy to keep improving the user experience.  It’s been in effect on desktops for the past eight years but with the use of mobile devices substantially increasing, the move is now focusing on improving mobile performance.

Optimising your site for mobile will ensure you keep your visitors but how do you ensure this happens, and how do you know if your site isn’t ‘optimised’?  Google don’t provide any tools or processes for you to achieve this, but you can start by ascertaining how your site is performing by using Google’s Test My Site, which will provide insights into its current performance.

When you think about site speed, it’s important to also focus on the bigger picture.  Having a strong SEO strategy is key so ensure you keep your site up to date with new, fresh, relevant content.

So, while the detail from Google is still a little vague, if there’s ever a better time to start taking action, it’s now.  Don’t get caught out!
