Viruses started in 1986 when Basit
and Amjad realised that the boot sector of a floppy diskette
contained executable code They realised that they
could replace this code with their own program, that this could be a
memory resident program, and that it could install a copy of itself
on each floppy diskette that is accessed in any drive. The program
copied itself - they called it a Virus.

Viruses
are spread via receiving an infected or Phishing Email,
shared USB flash drives, infected websites or Messenger
or other chat programs. Never click to open a email
unless you know who sent it. One can Right click the
email in Outlook/Outlook Express and choose Options from
the pop up menu. Here you can see who has sent the
email. If you don't recognise it, then delete it.

- It is
always VERY important to have Internet Security installed and
running on your computer to protect your computer in the same
way we protect our houses with locks. You should have
a Anti Virus package and Firewall running all the time. The best
combination is to use a Internet Security package like Bit
Defender, Kaspersky or AVG.
If your system has become infected BizWiseIT will clean your PC
of any viruses while repairing any damage done

- To explain what
spyware is, we'll first explain what adware is. Adware is
'freeware', whereby ads are embedded in the program. These ads will
show up when you open the program. Most adware authors provide the
free version with ads and a registered version whereby the ads are
disabled.
|
-
Spyware however, is
an analysis and tracking program which reports your activities to
the advertisers web site for storage and analysis.
Even though the name may indicate so, spyware
is not an illegal type of software in any way. But what the
adware and spyware providers do with the collected information and
what they're going to 'feed' you with, is beyond your control. And
in some cases it all happens without your consent!
|
- Spyware threats
come in different flavours. The spyware agent can be mailware
(modifies system settings, and can perform undesirable tasks on your
system), hijacker (redirects your browser to web sites), dialler
(dials a service, most likely porn sites, for which you are
billed!), Trojan horse (is attached to a program, and performs
undesirable tasks on your system), collectware (collects information
about you and your surfing habits).
|
- In addition to doing a
detailed check of your browser history, spyware can executables files, send continuous data to
the author, let hackers intercept
your personal data or enter your computer.
|
|
The
majority of these programs once installed can not easily be
deleted from your system by normal methods and often leave
components behind to continue to monitor your behaviour and
reinstall themselves.
If your system
has become infected BizWiseIT will clean your PC
of any Spyware and Adware while repairing any damage done.
We will also
install Internet Security and other software to aim to stop your PC from
being infected again.

In today's computing environment
security of your PC and it's systems is of the utmost
importance. Physical security of the system
is a large component of computer security, but it is only the
beginning. Regardless of whether a computer has a constant Internet
connection (network, DSL, cable modem, etc.) or is used only on a
dial-up line, it is essential that certain steps be taken to ensure
your computing safety.
-
The three primary areas in which you can keep your
computer protected against viruses, worms, and other
threats is to update your Anti-Virus software, your
Firewall and install Windows updates.
-
Windows Update is the mechanism by which
Microsoft provides updates to it's
operating systems, distributes service packs and
critical updates that either fix problems in
Windows, or protect against known vulnerabilities in
Windows or Internet Explorer. Microsoft never
distributes service packs or critical updates via
e-mail - they require that you come to their web
site and download them.
|
|
 |
BizWiseIT will fully check and update your PC with any
security and critical updates.
We will
then draw up and maintain a regular update schedule for your
PC, IT systems and network.
